OKC Thunder look to rebound as they host New Orleans Pelicans

OKC Thunder

The OKC Thunder claimed their first road win followed by the worst loss of the season. With the New Orleans Pelicans on tap, the team looks to rebound. Gameday previews the match.

The OKC Thunder had a mixed bag of a month. They had two big losses, one against the Indiana Pacers, the other was against the Portland Trail Blazers in the last game out.

Unfortunately, bench spark plug Hamidou Diallo is out for the next four to six weeks with a hyper-extended elbow. This is a huge hole in the rotation for the Thunder, coach Billy Donovan has to go deeper into his bag of tricks to keep the team relevant.

He has tried Abdel Nader with mixed success. He has struggled against most of the league and then shone with a 23 point outing against the Blazers. Does this mean Nader should get more playing time? No, not based on one performance.

He needs to keep this level of production up moving forward, hopefully producing in a game where the Thunder are in the contest. That is when he deserves more minutes.

The Pelicans have their own injury concerns. Zion Williamson has not played a game and Josh Hart, Lonzo Ball, Derrick Favors, and Jahlil Okafor have all missed six or more games this season.

In their last outing, the Pelicans hosted the Lakers in what was a bit of a grudge match as the man responsible for the rebuild was in town – Anthony Davis. The fan base booed – Anthony delivered the most points ever put on a former team in the initial outing and the Lakers eeked out a four-point victory.

This all goes to prove if the Pelicans ever get healthy they have a deep squad. With that let’s jump into the keys to the match.
